In 2002, I enrolled in a month-long work-study program at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. My life would never be the same. Through an ecstatic dance workshop and an equally ecstatic massage session, I connected with deeper parts of my soul and discovered a level of physical freedom I had never known. But it was a cathartic Shamanic experience that finally released all the burdens I'd been carrying. When my screams and tears subsided, the Shaman declared, "You can go and play now."
